Senior Software Engineer - Dynamic Spin out
A new diagnostics technology spin-out is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with a background in developing C++ / C# software to join their team.
The Software Engineer will join an exciting Oxford based spin-out which was recently set up by a major Electronics company to exploit their successful microfluidics 'lab-on-a-chip' technology. The company has solid financial backing and huge interest from industry for a technology which will revolutionise the medical and healthcare sector.
This is a rare opportunity to join a company at the early stages of its evolution. The Software Engineer will become a key team member who will make a real difference. Responsibilities of Senior Software Engineer
In addition to hands-on C++ / C# software development, as Senior Software Engineer you will act as owner of all aspects of the company's software, setting strategy and ensuring the quality of the releases. The post-holder will also:
* oversee the company's software product development process from beginning to end including requirements capture, specification, release and post-release maintenance
* act as an interface with customers and business partners on software related matters and co-ordinate with internal teams to resolve issues as they arise
* develop and deliver software automation scripts to perform customer protocols
* Writing code, coordinating code reviews & code testing
* Writing specifications and manuals for the company's software products
* Enhancing all aspects of the software development capability in the company
Requirements of Senior Software Engineer
Essential:
* Educated to degree level ( BEng MEng BSc etc) at a leading university in an appropriate subject such as computer science, electronics engineering, physics or mathematics
* Minimum 5yrs experience in commercial software development
* Experience in development of software for scientific or medical instrumentation
* Expert in C#, C++ and the .NET framework
* Able to communicate clearly and concisely with other members of a multi-disciplinary team
* Delivery focussed with attention to detail
Desirable:
* Masters or PhD degree in software related field would be beneficial but not essential
* Administration of version control software (ideally subversion or git)
* Experience with agile software development methodologies
* Experience with test driven development methodologies
* Expert in Python and Python extensions for .NET framework
* Experience in developing software for regulated environments such as in-vitro diagnostics
Location: Oxford (commutable from Reading, High Wycombe, Aylesbury, Swindon, Banbury)
Salary: GBP40k - GBP50k + Startup package
