Purpose:

Engineering some of the most admired vehicles in the world isn't easy. It can be tough and there will be pressure to deliver the best quality product. We don't see what we do as a job or a career, it is much more than that. For us it's passion. It's passion for what we do that motivates us. Having the freedom to venture into new technology and pushing boundaries, working towards something magnificent each day. Being able to say "I helped create that" when one vehicle is launched and moving on to the next to try and better ourselves. At McLaren we aren't bound by affiliation to other companies, all of our systems are designed and managed internally and we have full autonomy to influence the end product as a result.

The Vehicle Electronics and Controls team represent the delivery of system hardware of McLaren vehicles inclusive of systems such as switchgear, connectivity, infotainment and electrical distribution systems (EDS). They are recruiting for many positions currently, having grown from 12 people to an eventual 31 and beyond. This growth is a result of McLaren's desire to produce more vehicles and derivatives, as part of the track22 business plan. In addition, the consumer market is also developing as vehicles become more connected and integrated with mobile devices as well as autonomous driving.

As an Infotainment Engineer working on antennas, you will report to the Antenna lead engineer and be responsible for multiple integrated antenna solutions, as vehicles become more complex having moved from just simple AM/FM antennas, to now looking at 5G and Car2X connectivity. The challenge is to integrate these and future antenna systems but being mindful of the ever-important styling and aesthetic requirements of the automotive industry.

You can expect to work in a collaborative and supportive environment, alongside expert system owners. You should be motivated by the opportunity to contribute to the end product on a daily basis who thrive on self-development and improving knowledge and experience within the world of vehicle electronics. The team demonstrate the McLaren values of exceeding customer expectations and enjoy continually improving and aiming for a right first time approach, working on cross functional systems on multiple projects.

Requirements and Responsibilities:

Extensive experience on antenna development with a background in automotive, military applications or academics.
Detailed understanding of RF design/development fundamentals, including the impacts of the surrounding environment such as complex materials - i.e carbon fibre.
Strong team player.
Excellent negotiation skills.
Ideally degree educated in suitable engineering discipline, though not essential.
