Mechanical Maintenance Fitter

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join Abingdon Flooring based in Crumlin, Gwent.

Abingdon Flooring is the UK’s largest privately owned manufacturer of quality carpets. We are a British based company with facilities in South Wales, the West Midlands and the North of England. We employ a total workforce of 400 people, currently producing in excess of nine million square metres of carpet per annum. This is enough carpet to get you to the USA and back every year.

If you are newly qualified looking to gain experience or, have the aptitude to develop your skills further within a wide and varying range of production equipment and technologies, this is an excellent role for you.

As a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter your main duties will include; attending to daily planned maintenance, breakdowns on production machinery and machinery services, servicing of plant and equipment ready for use.

An ideal Mechanical Maintenance Fitter will have the following skills and qualifications:

• A mechanical apprenticeship to agreed standards as recognised by British Industry.
• Ability to fault find, repair and provide solutions to problems
• Flexible working attitude
• Experience / knowledge to work on pneumatic systems
• Aptitude to learn
• Competence to install production equipment and services
• Health & safety aware

Your working hours will be:

• Starting on a 3 shift system on Days, Nights and Afternoons +£35.71 pw shift allowance

In return for this you will receive a salary of £11.48 per hour.
