The Company & the Role
Our client is one of the UK's largest suppliers of professional power tools, hand tools and accessories, They have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Manager to come in and take ultimate responsibility for our existing team of Warehouse Managers, Team Leaders and staff.
Working together to dispatch well in excess of 1000 customer orders daily and manage the entire operations from goods in, through the warehouse and finally to dispatch.
Main Purpose of the Job
To maximise the capability and efficiency of the warehouse and warehouse processes; ensuring comprehensive planning, application and the adoption of progressive warehouse procedures. To organise and engage the Warehouse Managers and Team Leaders and ensure staff are working to their full potential.
Job Duties/ Responsibilities
Your duties will include all aspects of operations management including:
- Leading and motivating a large team of Warehouse Managers, Team Leaders and staff.
- Ultimate responsibility / accountability for the smooth and efficient running of all warehouse related operations.
- Responsibility for staffing levels, shifts patterns and staff rotas in collaboration with department managers
- Responsibility for all warehouse related budgets including: staff payroll, packaging materials, equipment and maintenance.
- Ultimate responsibility for warehouse HR; from recruitment through to training and development. Also overseeing or conducting any disciplinary or performance related issues.
- Implementing and maintaining KPI's
- Ensuring the company's health and safety policy is adhered to, including accident and near miss reporting.
- Ensuring the highest possible standards of housekeeping are implemented and maintained
- Improving the organisational effectiveness of the operational systems, processes and day to day running of the warehouse.
- Plan and schedule all inventory activities including: cycle counting, deliveries and daily branch stock transfers.
- Develop and analyse reports and assist in developing new policies, procedures and methods that improve operational efficiency.
- Arrange and lead regular meetings with Managers, Team Leaders and staff to promote feedback, encourage engagement and allow all warehouse team members to become actively involved in the progression of the department in general.
- Communicate business objectives as outlined by the General Manager and Directors
- To be aware of, and ensure compliance to, all mechanical handling equipment procedures in accordance with company and health and safety legislation
- Ensuring the security of stock, the building and staff at all times
The Candidate:
- Proven experience in a successful operations manager position
- Excellent communication, leadership, motivation and managerial skills
- Enthusiasm and energy to continually challenge and improve work processes
- Evidence of health and safety & HR knowledge
- Strong IT skills
- Driving licence
Hours:
Working an 8 ?? hour shift, 5 days of a 6 day working week, managing a distribution centre open from 07.45 - 20.00. As part of your duties the Operations Manager will be expected to tailor their working week according to business needs.
