Person Specification

The chosen Maths Trainee Teacher must arrive with a passion and enthusiasm for developing as a teacher, a drive which enables them to succeed in their pursuit of qualifying as a Maths Teacher. Open to criticism and mentorship, the chosen Maths Trainee Teacher must utilise the guidance they will receive upon the programme for their own benefit, absorbing advice from senior professionals in developing their standards.

About the Scheme
As a Maths Trainee Teacher on the Premier Pathways Program, you will initially join the school as a Teaching Assistant within the Maths department, performing a range of minor duties across the department. As you operate within this Teaching Assistant position, the chosen Maths Trainee Teacher will be given the freedom to observe the excellent teaching practices of colleagues within the school and will therefore develop your own understanding of pedagogy. Eventually, after two terms of settling into educational life as a Maths TA, the chosen Maths Trainee Teacher will be given the responsibility of teaching 50% of a teacher timetable. Utilising the first class in school and Premier Pathways support you will receive during this crucial stage in your development, the chosen Maths Trainee Teacher will gradually grown in confidence in devising and delivering their own lessons. As the Maths Trainee Teacher begins to improve in their teaching of mathematics, the amount and variety of lessons they teach will increase, preparing them effectively for life as a full-time teacher after the scheme is complete. In completing an online portfolio detailing evidence of your work, alongside assessments of your teaching, the Maths Trainee Teacher will be granted a PGCE and QTS at the end of the two year program and will join the welcoming Maths department here as one of their experienced and well-respected teachers
