A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Manager to join the team in Manchester, working 37.5 hours a week.

The Commercial Manager Role

The Commercial Manager is responsible for working with respective Business Partners and key stakeholders to develop and improve tools & systems to improve decision making, capability, timeliness and quality. Your responsibilities include:

  • Personally, lead the embedding and development of a positive safety culture across the function
  • Provide management commentary on key risks and issues as they emerge and maintain the appropriate risk controls and mitigating actions to resolve.
  • Review and initial appraisal of transactional approval requests (TARF’s) put forward for sign off by the Head of Commercial Services and Special Projects.
  • To provide commercial support to Special Projects as and when required.
  • Provide advice and assistance to Project Sponsors and business partners in the formulation and improvement of any proposed project or TARF submission. Ensure sufficient standards and required detailed analysis to justify and validate the business decision that is being requested is present.
  • Work with respective Business Partners and key stakeholders to develop and improve tools & systems to improve decision making, capability, timeliness and quality.
  • Working with the Head of Commercial Services and Special Projects and other senior commercial role holders within Viridor to develop the framework, standards and governance for commercial contracting
  • Work with members of commercial team and input into the process to derive and develop company strategy. Ensure all TARFs align with the strategic goals of the business.

The Ideal Commercial Manager

  • Experience of Complex Project Management in a commercial environment.
  • Experience of interacting with internal and external Board members.
  • Demonstrable experience of acting as a strong business partner to Senior Management and Directors.
  • Experience of development corporate governance in support of better and more effective company decision making.
  • Educated to degree level in a business / commercial related discipline or similar level through experience
  • Driving license
