Your new role

Joining our team as our Minor Works Estimator you will have a pivotal role in the growth of our minor projects business across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. You will have responsibility for pricing minor works projects (typically from £5,000 up to £200,000 in value) and will work closely with the operational and bid team to develop the pricing, commercial and operational strategy for minor project works.

The role will enjoy a significant degree of autonomy whilst benefitting from the support of the other Estimators, Finance team and the Board of Directors

• Understanding the technical requirements, contract requirements, and key risks for each tender
• Helping to develop the project delivery plan and the commercial approach to each project
• Using information from client drawings, specifications, and site visits create measured Bills of Quantities for pricing purposes
• Preparing, issuing and reviewing subcontractor enquiries
• Liaising with Contract Managers to understand and agree internal supervision and labour availability
• Supporting with preparation of client accounts and valuations on smaller projects
• Assisting with customer liaison and responding to potential business opportunities

What you will need to succeed as our Minor Works Estimator

• Proven experience working as an estimator / QS
• Track record of pricing and winning multi-trade building works
• Understanding of standard building contracts (i.e. JCT Measured Term Contract and Minor works)
• Knowledge of key building regulations and legislation which impacts on maintenance activity
• An advanced user of Excel
• Exceptionally disciplined and well organised
• HNC or Degree Qualified in a relevant discipline
