Financial Controller | SME engineering and manufacturing company | Hull | salary to £45,000 per annum + company pension scheme

Hays Senior Finance is recruiting a Financial Controller for an established SME engineering and manufacturing company based in Hull.

This is an excellent time to join the business. As a result of several recent contract wins the company is expecting to double it's turnover in the next eighteen months. The Finance Director is also looking to reduce his hours immediately and fully retire in the next year. The job therefore offers an excellent opportunity for progression into the role of Finance Director within a relatively short time frame.

Your new role
You will be a member of the management team. You will be responsible for the preparation of management accounts and annual statutory accounts using Sage 50. You will produce project reporting information. You will deal with company secretarial matters, deal with insurance/ pensions/ life assurance, be the main point of contact for the bank, manage cash, carry out credit control if required, oversee payroll, deal with VAT, and handle currency transactions.

What you will need to succeed
You will be a hands-on qualified accountant with experience of working for a similar sized SME business, ideally in the manufacturing and engineering or an associated sector. You will be a loyal and pro-active accountant with excellent communication skills, who is used to dealing with a variety of staff from the shop floor to the senior management team. The company may consider applications from accountants who are qualified by experience who possess the experience that they require.

What you will get in return
You will receive a competitive salary of up to £45,000 per annum. The company also operates a pension scheme, which you will be entitled to join after the qualifying period (6% contribution from the employer, 3% from the employee), and offers 25 days annual holiday entitlement (plus bank holidays). The standard hours of employment are 8.30am to 5pm with 1 hour for lunch, 37.5 hours per week.
