Job Description

We currently have a vacancy within our support team working with people with LD, Mental Health and Complex Needs for young (25-35 year old) able enablers to work as part of a team on a fixed rota doing 24 hour shifts including sleep-ins with a young man living in Salisbury.  He has been diagnosed with high functioning autism/Asperger.  He has been known to exhibit a range of challenging behaviours when he becomes anxious, but there are protocols and a positive behaviour support plan in place that have enabled him to better control his responses effectively.  We will be supporting him to:

a)       Live safely in his own home

b)      Plan for a healthy diet, cook, shop, maintain his home, improve wellbeing

c)       Pursue his personal hobbies (theatre and musicals, music and films)

d)      Maintain relationships and develop new ones

e)      Go out for trips to the theatre, go out into the local community, go on trips to larger towns and cities, engage in activities that promote physical wellness, and attend a range of live entertainment events

We are looking for young (25-35 year old) enthusiastic, engaging individuals (female or male) who can deliver reliable, quality care and support to this client as part of the team enabling him to live an active engaged life.

Key Responsibilities:

1.) Supporting the Service User in his own home and attending local activities with him.

2.) Maintaining up to date records of visits.

3.) Attending supervisions with Care Managers to discuss Care Plans and Service User progress.

4.) Complete all necessary training and attend any extra (Service User specific) training that the Care Manager deems necessary.

5.) Stay up to date with Policies and Procedures.

6.)    Attend team meetings

Essential Requirements:

1.)    Positive can-do attitude with a proven track record of putting energy and enthusiasm into previously assigned tasks.

2.)    Experience with adults with LD, Mental Health issues and complex needs from either a practical hands on role or through education.

3.)    Have a diverse range of relevant skills, knowledge and experience of working with people with complex needs. 

4.)    Good spoken, listening, time management and communications skills.

5.)    Have good written skills and basic IT.

6.)    Desire to make a difference in the lives of people with LD, Mental Health issues and complex needs.
