We are looking for an enthusiastic early years practitioner to join our popular Nursery. The successful applicant(s) will be required to take a responsibility for the welfare, learning and development of a group of children within the Nursery, working with initiative and creativity to foster an environment that encourages the children’s all round development.

This is an opportunity to work within a well-established nursery and to make a real difference to the lives of children and their families. Working as part of the St. Joseph’s nursery team, you will deliver high-quality play and learning opportunities through a wide range of activities. You will be able to communicate well with young children and their parents and carers and have working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

With a minimum of a level 3 full and relevant early years or childcare qualification, you will have experience of meeting the requirements of Early Years Foundation Stage and value your own continued professional development.

St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Nursery offers good working conditions, a comprehensive training programme and a final salary pension scheme. We welcome applications from all sections of the community.

Our new buildings and facilities provide an excellent environment for teaching and learning and our large team provides many opportunities for CPD and staff development within a culture of learning for all; we were rated “Good” by Ofsted at its last inspection (May 2013).

We offer staff car parking, Local Government pension, catering facilities as well as Surrey County Councils “My Rewards” scheme of staff benefits. Visits are welcomed and encouraged; please contact Diane Haslett on 01483 888401 to arrange a visit.

Ideally, you will have practical knowledge of planning experiences that meet the requirements of the EYFS Statutory Framework and a commitment to ongoing professional development.

As part of your SEN responsibility, you will:

  • collect and record all relevant background information about individual children with additional needs – and make sure that this is kept up-to-date.
  • Liaise closely with parents and professionals when identifying children’s needs and planning for intervention and support.
  • Give advice and support to colleagues within the setting.
  • Make sure that Individual Support Plans (ISPs) are written, followed and evaluated.

You will demonstrate good interpersonal skills together with an ability to be a supportive member of our Nursery team.

Hours 08.30 to 16.30 daily 37.5 hours per week, term time only (39 weeks per year); the full time salary range is £18,410 to £21,474 (pro rata) depending on experience, the actual salary range is £16,641 to £19,068.

A recognised Level 3 qualification in childcare and education is essential. Experience of working with children with additional needs would be an advantage, as would holding GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above.

Closing date:           12 noon, Monday 3rd July 2017
