Facing off to all Morgan Stanley businesses and interacting with all other parts of the Firm, the Operations division supports a complex, multi-faceted portfolio of businesses in full compliance with regulatory guidelines and the directives of the Operating Committee and Board of Directors. Members of the Operations team have a unique vantage point as the division touches all parts of the business, front to back. One of the largest divisions in the firm, Operations has diverse responsibilities, including correctly settling and recording millions of transactions per day, identifying and mitigating all operational risks, developing strong client relationships and partnering with technology to realize the full potential of IT and e-solutions. Team Profile: ISG Product Operations is a world-class global team of dedicated professionals, performing myriad functions, all with a common purpose: to manage Morgan Stanley's Clearing and Trading & Client operational processes and deliver value to our clients in a controlled and efficient way. The broad organization partners closely with Sales and Trading to develop and implement new products and services as well as drive efficiency and reduce risk in our processes. At all times we are focused on delivering quality service to clients both internal and external. ISG Product Operations encompasses two functionally aligned organizations. The first, Trading & Client Operations, provides Operations functions in direct support of activity executed by Institutional Sales & Trading. The second, Clearing Operations, provides Operations functions in direct support for activity cleared by Morgan Stanley on behalf of our clients in Prime Brokerage, Listed Derivatives, and OTC Derivatives. Primary Responsibilities: The Fixed Income Trade Assistant team support a number of trading desks: Investment Grade; High Yield & Distressed; European Commercial Paper; Emerging Markets, Structured Products, EU Govt Bonds and Agency products. In addition the team support Listed futures, options and other products as required (equity and FID) for these desks, in multiple risk systems. - Involved in all Trade Support functions including; affirmation, reconciliation, exception management and regulatory reporting - Maintaining responsibility for risk management within the team through daily supervision of checklists, timely escalation and utilizing key risk management tools including KRIs and KPIs - Partnering with 9 FTE in outsourced Desk Control team through daily monitoring and escalation. Reviewing weekly and monthly metric packs, supporting process enhancements and additional functions being transitioned where necessary. - Co-ordinating various regular Risk initiatives across TSG including SOX, RADAR, RCSA and liasing with central Ops Risk teams on various ad hoc requirements - Developing and maintaining excellent relationships with key global stakeholders, within the BU and across operations. Preparing, presenting and participating in monthly BU review calls - Maintaining, developing and improving current processes & procedures. Supporting the desk through NPAs, system enhancements and regulatory or compliance queries - Developing and maintaining various regulatory reports, to comply with market requirements. - Participation in a suite of working groups across the wider Securities Operations business This is not exhaustive and tasks and responsibility changes are frequent in order to maintain our high level of service Qualifications: Skills required (essential): - A general knowledge of Fixed Income products and how they are traded is preferable - The ability to effectively prioritise a high volume of work in a real-time environment, and manage expectations effectively whilst doing so - Competently delegate, whilst retaining oversight of deliverables, to achieve departmental goals - Good risk awareness and escalation skills at a senior level, able to elicit effective escalation and communication with peers - Strong leadership skills and desire to build consensus within the team. Ability to work with, and delegate for, other directors within the team where necessary - Excellent communication and presentation skills.
