MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

Salary £22,686 - £25,960 per annum, plus additional payments for on call. A vacancy has arisen for a mechanical maintenance shift technician at Cheltenham General Hospital.

Duties will include diagnosing and repairing faults to mechanical building services, plant and equipment, heating systems, hot and cold water systems, plumbing installations, steam distribution, air conditioning/refrigeration and specialist mechanical hospital services.

An understanding of electrical installations, plant and equipment would be an advantage.

Essential qualifications are City and Guilds Advanced Craft in a recognised mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent recognised qualification.

Applicants should have served a recognised and registered engineering apprenticeship. The successful candidate will receive 35 days annual leave (Inclusive bank holiday), plus access to the NHS Pension Scheme, and up to six months' full pay sick leave if the need arises. 37.5 hours per week (07:30 to 15:30 with a 30 minute unpaid break).

Participation in the out of hours on call rota (one week in four) is a requirement of the post.
