Located alongside our Head Office in Bury St Edmunds, our high-tech Communications Centre is the nerve centre of our rapidly growing Security division. With 1,200 field-based security professionals providing outstanding guarding services at over 300 clients sites, our Control Room Operatives are responsible for coordinating our workforce to ensure we meet service delivery targets and keep things running like clockwork.
Supporting our field-based guarding staff and working alongside regional operations managers, you will oversee the delivery of physical guarding hours in the region of 35,000 hour per week and additionally, undertake staff welfare checks, CCTV monitoring and incident reporting of clients' premises.
The ability to plan ahead & work strategically is essential. Attention to detail will be vital to ensure that no gaps in staffing occur. We are looking for confident and process-driven individuals who can multi-task effectively and excel under pressure.
Experience in workforce planning would be desirable. This role may be particularly suited to a recruiter from either an in-house or agency background. You will be required to work with initiative and vigour, reacting to staffing emergencies with a sense of urgency and purpose. Your outstanding relationship building skills and ability to influence will enable you to forge long-standing and fruitful partnerships with clients and guarding staff alike - this will be especially true when dealing with client incident reporting and undertaking regular staff welfare checks.
Primary role and responsibilities include:
- Workforce Planning – Shift allocation; Staff attendance monitoring; Sourcing and coordinating cover for vacant shifts and in the case of absence or sickness
- Staff Welfare – Conducting regular checks on lone workers in the field
- CCTV Monitoring – Observing cameras from across our national sites for intruder detection purposes
- Incident Reporting – Liaising with clients regarding on-site incidents, following escalation processes and procures as necessary
- Client Liaison – Ensuring clients are kept fully informed regarding staffing issues as they occur and the solutions which have been put in to maintain service
- Data Management – Collating and processing staffing data, as required
- Customer Service – Delivering outstanding service to our clients and staff at all times
Suitable candidates will demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- A proven track record in workforce planning or recruitment is highly desirable
- Experience of working within the Security industry would be highly advantageous – experience of working in a control room environment would be of particular interest
- You will be agile and effective in responding quickly to situations as they arise
- Attention to detail, the ability to work strategically and think one step ahead will be essential
- A demonstrable understanding of what excellence looks like in your day-to-day work; as standard, you will endeavour to exceed expectations and deliver only outstanding results
- Highly organised, efficient and able to multi-task, candidates who are adaptable and results orientated are most likely to thrive in this role
- You will possess excellent organisational skills and will be disciplined in following processes and procedures to ensure quality and consistency
- An outstanding communicator, you will be highly adept at forging long-standing, productive relationships at all levels within the business
- You will be fully conversant with Microsoft Office, with particular emphasis on Word & Excel
- Our preference would be for candidates who have experience of the Timegate Scheduling system or a comparable scheduling software package
- An SIA (Non Front-Line / Front-Line) Licence will be required - Candidates who already possess this licence are of particular interest
- GCSE English & Maths, or equivalent at grades C or above
Our Control Room Operatives deliver outstanding support to our business and customers 24 hours a day. You will be placed on a rotating shift pattern of two days, two nights, two days off. Day shifts are scheduled as 06:00-18:00 and night shifts as 18:00-06:00. Commitment to be able to work these shifts and some degree of flexibility to meet the needs of our business is essential.
Given the nature of the role, you will be required to obtain SIA licensing. Should you not possess an
SIA license already we will support you in gaining this training & accreditation.
Successful candidates will be required to undertake security screening in accordance with BS7858 which will include a full unbroken 5 year period of referencing for which you will be required to provide full address history and employment details.
