Management Accountant Overseas. Our client, a large company based in Leicester, part of an international group, has engaged Paul Mitchell Associates to recruit a Management Accountant (Overseas). You will be a fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) and have a strong background within the following areas;

Purpose of Role
Reporting to the Financial Accountant-Overseas, this role takes ownership of the monthly profit and loss account and balance sheet of the overseas entities that are part of the Group. The role deals with multiple currencies providing monthly analysis and reporting to key stakeholders as well as supporting on financial reviews and audits of the overseas entities.
The role will be instrumental in driving forward the implementation of financial controls (journal approval, balance sheet reconciliations) and process and policy alignment of the overseas entities to the US Group ensuring SOX/internal controls compliance.
This is a varied role and as such the candidate must be a self-starter, independent and confident in dealing with a range of stakeholders, multiple currencies and GAAP differences. The successful candidate will be customer focused, technically minded with effective communication skills and ability to build enduring relationships. Previous experience in a management accounting role and very good excel skills are pre-requisites.
Role Responsibilities
The role will be responsible for;
*To manage and accurately account for the monthly profit and loss and balance sheet of the overseas branches
*To prepare/and or review any monthly provisions and accruals in relation to the overseas branches.
*To arrange the monthly recharges and repatriation of cash from the overseas branches ensuring they are accounted for accurately by working closely with the accounts receivable, treasury and overseas finance team
*To prepare the VAT/GST return for some of the overseas entities
*To reconcile the intercompany on a monthly basis and support in aligning the local books to the general ledger system
*To explain and provide commentaries on monthly and year-to-date profit and loss account variances to key stakeholders
*To provide day to day support to the overseas branches and maintain regular contact
*To support in the review, creation and implementation of financial policies and procedures to ensure consistency, accuracy and reliability of financial results and adherence to SOX

Role Responsibilities (continued)
*To support the Financial Accountant-Overseas on the financial reviews and audits of all overseas entities including ensuring accurate accounting to local GAAP
*Partner with the FP&A team to align on and deliver accounting and reporting requirements for the overseas branches (including supporting with forecasts and plans as required by the FP&A team)
*To support in the preparation and review of key deliverables and reporting packs as required
*To drive continuous improvement and seek innovative solutions to complex issues and manual time consuming tasks across the overseas management account team
General Responsibilities
*The development of new initiatives for the improvement of finance functions
*To work towards both individual and team goals set
* To carry out any reasonable management request
*Provide on the job coaching to the Assistant Financial Accountant.
*To be a team player
*To comply with all Group procedures and policies
Role Requirements
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
*Qualified Accountant with an ACA or CIMA or ACCA (or equivalent) body
*Strong technical accounting knowledge
*Advanced Excel skills
*Experience in a management accounting role
*Experience in process re-engineering and improvement
*Experience of monthly and month end reporting - including preparation of reporting packs, commentary, key analysis and routine accounting tasks (balance sheet reconciliations etc).

Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
*Post qualification experience within industry
*Experience of working in practice (ideally Big 4)
*Statutory accounts experience
*Experience of coaching
*SOX / Internal controls experience
*Dealing with overseas entities and multiple experience
