About the role

You will be responsible for collecting, analysing and presenting a wide range of data on scholarly communications. These data and reports will support several services that Jisc offers to its members and customers, including both online information services directly aimed at institutions, and Jisc negotiations with publishers on behalf of those institutions.

About you

In order to be successful, you will need a qualification or relevant experience in an equivalent role.

This will include:

- A good understanding of basic statistical techniques
- A good understanding of scholarly communications, including the research, policy and market conditions prevalent in the UK and internationally, and the of interests of all key stakeholders that are implied by those conditions
- A good understanding of the role of scholarly communications in higher education and research in the UK and internationally and, in particular, its implications for universities
- A good understanding of the strategic and operational requirements associated with scholarly communication and, in particular, the move to open access
- Experience in liaising and negotiating with key stakeholders at a range of levels, including representatives of institutions and commercial bodies such as publishers
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) including the ability to explain complex issues to non-expert colleagues and create clear documentation and reports

Jisc has offices in Bristol, London, Oxford and Manchester and this role may be located in any one of these offices. Jisc is a geographically distributed organisation and travel across the UK will be required.
