New opportunity not to be missed! Tayto Group is seeking a Maintenance Manager to join the team based in Scunthorpe. This is a full time permanent role offering a salary of £40,000 plus benefits. This is a days position, Monday – Friday but some flexibility will be required.

Established in 1956 Tayto have expanded from one factory in Tandragee Castle, County Armagh, to becoming the UKs third largest snack manufacturer. Over the last nine years a series of careful acquisitions has seen the company grow to a turnover of £200m and led to the ownership of key brands in their market, including Golden Wonder, Real Crisps, Mr Porky and Jonathan Crisp and Midland Snacks.  The company employ over 1400 people across five manufacturing sites.

The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for maintaining and improving the systems of work, procedures, performance, conduct and behaviour in all aspects for the Shift Technicians ensuring the Production Teams and Area Managers are fully supported.

Key responsibilities of our Maintenance Manager

Responsible for 4 x direct reports (Engineering Supervisors) and 16 x indirect reports (Engineering Technicians)

- Deliver all aspects of engineering management support to the production Area Managers and Manufacturing Manager.

- With Area Managers ensure shift technicians complete the PPM requirements on their line of accountability and to a good standard.

- Ensure all breakdowns are supported effectively by assisting production in their decision making.

- Ensure that all shift based technicians complete their Frontline entries to a high standard and include all necessary information including follow on works orders if required.

- Report on asset care compliance weekly as it must achieve target compliance.

- Receive, distribute and brief any technical information to the shift based technicians and be the focal point for up and down communications within the engineering department.

- Must have a detailed knowledge of the site disciplinary and grievance procedures to assist Area Managers in effectively managing line based technicians.

- Ensure the correct management and use of the satellite spares system within the factory.

- You will work with the Site Engineering Manager on skills and development needs within the shift engineering teams to take the site forward.

- You will be responsible for centrally managing all holidays within the shift based technician teams.

- You must operate with minimum of supervision

- You will be part of the out of hours on call support team.

Qualifications and experience needed to become our Maintenance Manager

- Minimum four years’ experience in an engineering role, including maintenance information systems, maintenance scheduling, report writing, quality systems & standards, stores ordering / control systems and basic financial control.

- Working within a cross functional teams and matrix reporting structures.

- Engineering trouble shooting methodologies and approaches,

- Good all round man management and leadership skills in an engineering function.

- In depth knowledge of site HR systems and procedures.

- Strong communication skills.

- Strong knowledge of the Frontline system.

- All round knowledge of the engineering functions and structure within the shift engineering teams.

- Good understanding of the crisp manufacturing process from beginning to end

- Good Understanding of the Pellet Frying and Extrusion Snacks process from beginning to end

- Mechanical, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Electrical, Electronic, PLC to a level required to support Shift Technician team with training & Development and Trouble Shooting.

- Develop an expert knowledge of the engineering maintenance and operation of a range of equipment including;  Heat Exchangers, Fryers, Optisorts, KMG, Multi Weigh Heads, Primary and Secondary Bagging Machines, APV, Checkweigher, seal testers and coders. (Not exhaustive)

- Working in a food business with an emphasis on compliance in spirit and practice to Food Safety, Food Hygiene and Quality Policies, Standards and procedures. 

- Effective Delegation

- Continuous Improvement Methods and approaches. TPM, CBM, 5S SMED

- IOSH/NEBOSH, HACCP Level 3, Food Safety Level 3

Where these do not currently exist it is expected the Maintenance Manager will attain the required knowledge as appropriate.
