LOCATION: Bedford, Bedfordshire
JOB TITLE: Tractor Mechanic
SALARY & BENEFITS: Excellent salary for right candidate + benefits and on site accommodation available
WORKING HOURS: Full Time - Monday to Friday (39 hours per week plus overtime available)
THE COMPANY / ROLE: Our client are farming specialists that has been farming in the Bedfordshire area since 1927 . The farmed area is around 2000 acres and produces Wheat, Potatoes and Onions across various farms within a 12 mile radius of the home farm at Chicksands and they now require a skilled Tractor Mechanic to maintain their farm equipment and machinery.
The Farm workshop has recently moved into a new large building where the right candidate will be required and encouraged to assist with the planning and logistics of the layout and running - This is a great opportunity for a skilled Tractor Mechanic to become an integral part of an expanding group and be a valuable member of the team going forward. You will be responsible in maintaining and servicing a range of farm and agricultural machinery and vehicles as well as carrying out general repairs. You will be in charge of ordering and replacing parts, carrying out regular checks on equipment and working alongside the Farm Manager to ensure equipment is ready for use.
THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate for the Tractor Mechanic position must either be qualified by experienced and have previous working experience within a similar type role and/or a related Engineering qualification. You should have good knowledge of and previous experience servicing and maintaining agricultural equipment, HGV's, light commercial vehicles or tractors.. It is essential you have good communication skills, basic IT skills and can work well within a team. Previous experience in welding and fabrication would be desirable.
Candidates with experience working with vehicles such as, Tractors, Construction/Plant equipment, Buses or other LGV / HGV vehicles are encouraged to apply.
Key Experience/ Characteristics preferred for the Tractor Mechanic's role in Bedford, Bedfordshire :-
Previous working experience in similar role or related qualification essential
Must live within or be able to commute to Chicksands, Shefford (near Bedford)
Experience maintaining and servicing HGV vehicles, Light Commercial or Agricultural vehicles
Experience maintaining farm equipment and Tractors, ideally John Deere
Previous Welding and Fabrication experience would be desirable
