It is an exciting time for HM Land Registry (HMLR) as we embark on a major programme of change. We are now looking for a number of Information Technology (IT) and technical specialists to join our Digital, Data and Technology Directorate teams and help us with our technology investment in delivering efficient and professional services to our customers. 

We need dynamic, resourceful and ambitious individuals to join the Digital, Data and Technology teams and contribute to transforming HMLR from the highly efficient, productive and respected organisation it is now into the responsive, innovative and exceptional organisation it will become. 

HMLR is a government department created in 1862 to register the ownership of land and property in England and Wales. Our vision is “Your land and property rights: guaranteed and protected”. We safeguard land and property ownership worth more than £4 trillion, including more than £1 trillion of mortgages. The Land Register contains more than 24 million titles, which show evidence of ownership, covering more than 84% of the land mass. 

The Digital, Data and Technology Directorate is the in-house IT division for HMLR. Our teams are at the heart of HMLR's move to more agile delivery of cutting edge digital services while maintaining our excellent system availability to our customers.

These are permanent roles in the main but some may be offered on a fixed term basis or on loan if you wanted to join us temporarily from another government department.

Allowances

An IT Allowance of up to £4,563 can be payable on meeting qualifying criteria. The starting salary for RE2L is £23,437 and the band goes up to £24,628 and the starting salary for RE2U is £27,293 and the band goes up to £30,918.

Things you need to know Security

Selection process details

Please note some of these posts will be considered for Security Clearance and could be subject to further background checks. 

You will be asked to complete a short application form in the first instance and sit the Verbal and Numerical Reasoning Tests. Should you be successful you will be asked to complete the full application form.

Please ensure you complete the tests by midday on Monday 3 July. If you pass the tests then you will have until midnight on Monday 3 July to complete the CV information on the full online application form.

Sift/interview dates and location

The sift will take place w/c 3 July and the interviews will take place w/c 17 and 24 July.

Further information

For existing civil servants where a level transfer occurs existing salary will be honoured. Where this falls below the HMLR minimum the minimum will be paid. When HMLR maximum is exceeded existing salary will be retained on a mark-time basis. 

An individual joining HMLR on promotion from another government department / agency will be placed on the minimum of the higher pay range.

Current HMLR apprentices are eligible to apply for all stages of recruitment competition. Current apprentices who are successful in gaining a new post within HMLR will continue with the apprenticeship studies where possible until completion of the Apprenticeship Framework.
