Project Manager
Contract: Fixed Term / Secondment for 12 months
Salary: Band 6 - GBP35,500 to GBP46,000 per annum
Location: County Hall, Chelmsford
Essex County Council (ECC) is one of the largest and most dynamic local authorities in the UK and is undergoing significant transformational change to further enhance customer focus, service and delivery. Over the last three years we have delivered over GBP400m of savings whilst working hard to improve services to our customers.
We are now looking for a Project Manager to work within our well established Programme Management Office (PMO). This role will support the counties exciting Independent Living Programmes which aim to deliver Independent living opportunities for older people and adults with a disability, across a number of individual projects.
The Role
The post holder will be required to manage projects of work, ensuring project risks and opportunities are identified, stakeholders managed, external contractors engaged and managed, and most critically - financial and non-financial benefits delivered. In order to deliver this, the successful candidate must have the flexibility to adapt to changing demands.
As a Band 6 Project Manager within the PMO, this role will contribute to the leadership and management of the function and to the wider organisation.
Knowledge, skills and experience
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
* Relevant professional or academic qualification (Degree and/or Professional Qualification), or equivalent by experience.
* Successfully completed at least one project and experienced contributing to a range of other projects and/or programmes.
* Experience of successfully delivering transformational projects in an organisation of similar scale (ideally within a Local Authority), focused on both cost reduction and improvements to customer satisfaction.
* Advanced Excel skills are essential.
* Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build personal credibility quickly with a variety of stakeholders.
* Ability to 'sell' vision and motivate key stakeholders.
Please note that interviews are scheduled be held for this role on 9th and 10th August, 2017.
