Oxford Spires runs all year round integration and language school programmes offering residential and non-residential courses for young people. Students attending our schools receive 15-21 hours of English language tuition per week and a comprehensive programme of activities and excursions. We are British Council Accredited, a member of English UK and English UK Young Learners, and strive to offer the highest quality learning experiences for all students who attend our schools.

LANGUAGE SCHOOL ACTIVITY LEADER

Overview

To plan and deliver on-site and off-site activities as part of the Summer School Activity Team, strive to ensure that each student has a safe, enjoyable and beneficial summer school experience.

Key Duties:

Activites

Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, fun and appropriate activities for groups of language students, both on and off-site
Attend weekly meetings with all activity staff to review weekly activity plans, aims and arrangements
Communicate regularly and effectively with fellow activity staff and the Senior Managers to ensure that all students have a positive all round experience
Take part in rota for supervision of evening activities and full day weekend off site excursions
Complete training as required, attend professional development sessions, planning sessions and all meetings
Prepare and deliver activity based workshop classes following pre-set guidelines (as required)
Complete any necessary paperwork required by the role

General Supervision

Assist with student supervision during break and lunch times
Help to maintain student behaviour, safety and welfare at all times
All staff have a responsibility for implementing Oxford Spires Language School policies and procedures, and representing the school to the highest standard at all times
Supervise airport arrivals and departures as necessary
Take part in the overnight on call duty rota, usually once a week

Other

All staff are expected to assist with keeping the premises and company equipment clean, safe and in good order
Undertake other duties, appropriate to your post, as may reasonably be required by Oxford Spires Language School

Essential requirements

Outgoing and enthusiastic personality
Excellent spoken English language skills
Ability to work as part of a team, and also to use own initiative
Strong communication skills
A flexible, cooperative, and responsible attitude
Reasonable level of fitness and knowledge of the rules and organisation of sports and games
All staff will be subject to safeguarding checks including an enhanced DBS disclosure

Desirable attributes

Previous experience of working with young people at an EFL summer school
Previous experience of working with EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learners
Specific skills in areas such as sport, art and music
First aid certificate
Full, clean driving license
