Turner and Townsend would like to recruit a Senior Cost Manager to work on the large EPC EFW Power Station projects across the U.K
The role will be part of a team providing commercial management and contract administration and cost control of one of the main Works Contracts in a wider Consortium/J.V, reporting to the Associate Director /Commercial Lead for the project.
This role is focused on Cost Control and Reporting of the finances to our Clients Leadership Team.
The role is also part of an area commercial team and works with similar roles in other Regions to achieve the overall programme objectives for the same end client.
Responsibilities
The Lead Cost Controller will have a broad range of responsibilities from managing the day to day reporting function on-site. The candidate will be the point person and 'Super User' for the current accounting system, SAP, and so will understand how the various departments use the system.
Understanding that stakeholder management is key, the Lead Cost Controller will possess exceptional interpersonal skills. Other responsibilities will include:
- Completing of the monthly management accounts pack (include Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet analysis with full reconciliations and production of Board packs);
Challenging the norm and to ensure high quality financial controls are in place
- Work closely with the Finance Director and Management Accountant, based in Denmark;
- Standardise accounting/finance procedures across the business;
- Maintaining control and reporting the overall finance position and Risk
- Providing Cost to-date, Outturn Costs and Margin analysis, dashboard reporting and KPI reporting;
- Provide analysis for the construction department monitoring profitability and maintenance and overheads cost.
- Liaise with external auditors to produce annual information;
The Successful Applicant
The successful lead Cost Controller will be a motivated individual working in the heart of the business with stakeholders from non-finance personnel to directors.
Expertise in a site project environment will be essential to success, either in EPC or Oil and Gas.
The hands on Lead Cost Controller will possess:
- Partial or Full Accountancy Qualification, or Relevant work experience
- Successful experience in finance leadership
- Proven operational track record in a commercial organization ideally engineering biased
- Solid understanding of accounting software, preferably SAP and Microsoft Excel
- Savvy stakeholder management - managing relationships and expectations
- Pragmatic and proactive team player
Skills and competencies
