Penguin are pleased to be working with a recognised leading planning consultancy who are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Town Planner to join the busy team in Taunton. This opportunity has arisen through growing workloads and we are looking for a professional, ambitious and proactive Planner for our client. You will be busy, challenged and well rewarded !

Our client are a large, award-winning consultancy with multidisciplinary capabilities. The office is one of the companies stronger performing offices who work some of the region's most challenging projects.

They also work directly with local authorities in assisting with evidence base assessments to inform supplementary planning guidance and local plans.

Your role

The role will offer the successful applicant the ability to work on a broad range of projects on behalf of our public and private sector clients. The offices main focus of work currently is in the residential sector. You will provide advice across the entire spectrum from initial feasibility studies through to the submission of planning applications and appeals.

Working across a diverse client base you will be responsible for preparing site appraisals, development plan representations, submitting planning applications and appeals and advising clients generally. As a commercially minded individual you will be supported in developing your own client base and taking the lead on projects with budgetary accountability. As the company are a multidisciplinary organisation you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with multi-skilled teams on larger proposals.

Job requirements

In order to apply you will demonstrate/hold:-

-Chartered membership with the RTPI

-Planning experience from the Private and/or Public sector

-You will be capable of managing a varied workload and be confident taking on the responsibility for the day-to-day management of concurrently running projects

-You will be able to deliver reliable technical input in a timely and efficient way

-You will be able to demonstrate enthusiasm, energy and the ability to work under your own initiative to meet our client's expectations, and help expand our business.

-Ideally you will have knowledge and experience of working within the residential sector but this is not essential.

-You will have excellent communication skills, allowing you to work effectively with multi-skilled teams internally and externally. Above all, you will have a "can-do" and positive approach to your career.
