We are seeking an experienced Highways Engineer looking to develop their career as part of our Highways Design Team, within our State and Local client sector. Due to continued growth of both our portfolio and demand for our services, we are looking for someone that can create and deliver detailed designs. We are passionate about what we do and you will be too; we solve complex challenges for our clients to ensure we deliver highway infrastructure and maintenance projects. Our exceptionally talented Highways Teams are committed to delivering major highway schemes for National Agencies and Contractors both in the UK and internationally. Our clients include; Highways England, Welsh Government, local authorities including East Sussex CC, Bristol CC, Worcestershire CC, as well as a number of design and build contractors. We work on a wide range of projects such as; scheme development, preliminary and detailed design, and construction. Well known examples of our work include the M4 Smart Motorway Programme, A465 Heads of the Valley, A14 and MetroBus. Our goal is to support our clients in realising their highway related projects through a fully integrated approach to project delivery and drawing on the services of all disciplines from locations throughout the region. This is a great opportunity for an experienced highways professional looking to take the next step in their career to work on some of the most interesting and challenging highway projects, building up their technical expertise by working with colleagues in a collaborative fashion to deliver for our clients. Role and Responsibilities; Working under the direction and mentorship of the Design Manager or relevant project managers, specific duties include: ?? Acting as a lead designer on elements of highway 2D and 3D design for projects from concept through to detailed design. ?? Technical responsibility for both creating designs and ensuring they are delivered in accordance with the current standards and practices. ?? Preparing technical reports ?? Experience of the use of working platform, Projectwise for BIM compliance. Knowledge of and experience with AutoCAD is also important. ?? Liaison with other disciplines and teams, 3rd parties (i.e. key stakeholders) for consents and approvals. ?? Preparation of Site Information and Works Information ?? Work planning and preparing programmes ?? Cost builds ups and estimating, cost monitoring and forecasting ?? Continuing professional develop and mentoring junior members of staff The minimum qualifications for this position are: ?? A relevant civil engineering qualification (degree preferred) with significant post-graduate experience and a desire to work towards (or already holding) incorporated or chartered status. ?? Technically astute, with detailed knowledge of highways engineering design and the supporting principles including codes, standards and practices applicable to (ideally) the UK. ?? An understanding of health and safety issues in relation to the design and construction of civil engineering works. ?? Fully conversant in all Microsoft Office software particularly MS Excel and Word. ?? Proven experience of managing packages and projects meeting deadlines and budgets ?? Excellent written and oral communication skills ?? Ability to communicate technical concepts within the team and to the client. ?? Excellent and demonstrable organisational and time management skills ?? Highly motivated and proactive individuals with a 'can do' attitude and leadership skills. ?? We would view experience with drainage or aspects of it favourably, as this is frequently an element of our work The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience: ??
