This company is one of the leading importers and processors of Softwood Products in the UK and operates from four manufacturing sites; Glastonbury, Andover, Huthwaite and Kingswinford.

Role
Working within all Operational areas, including outdoors in all conditions, helping to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow by carrying out labouring duties such as organising, storing and moving timber products in the Yard / Mill as required.

Duties and Responsibilities
- To create and develop good interpersonal working relationships with the Machinist, Other colleagues and Company Management.
- To maintain product knowledge outlining to Management any training that may be required for self or departmental advancement in the quest of right first time every time
- To contribute to the overall effective operation of the department and the company and to comply with all reasonable requests made in the pursuit of this objective
- To comply with instructions from The Machinist, and/or other Company Supervision/Management
- Assist in the preparation of customer orders from the appropriate Picking Notes/Customers instructions.
- Ensure that orders are made up safely, that the timber is the correct dimensions and that orders are strapped, banded and corner protected if applicable.
- Ensure clear legible handwriting is used when inserting details and tallies on Picking Notes.
- Check all work prior to despatch to avoid errors which could lead to stock shortage and dissatisfied customers.
- Ensure that loose stock is used before opening new packs.
- Assist with vehicle loading prior to next day deliveries.
- Adhere to the Machine Operators' instructions in the Mill.
- Restack sawn or prepared timber in a safe and presentable manner and in accordance with relevant procedures.
- Be observant at all times of quality and finish of sawn or prepared timber. Inform Machine Operator immediately when a discrepancy occurs.

Skills / Experience:.
- Capable of working under pressure and ensuring tight deadlines are met.
- Able to effectively build relationship with team members and operational staff and happy to work as part of a team.
- Experience of working in a warehouse environment.
- Able to drive a combi lift forklift truck, with necessary qualifications (desirable, but training will be provided).
