Fantastic opportunity! I have an exciting new role working for my client, an industry leading, Global Retail Supplier, based at their state of the art facility in Manchester. They have a newly created opportunity within their senior procurement team for a dynamic and driven Category Manager.
THE ROLE
As a Category Manager, you will be leading a small team, taking full ownership in the strategic development of this area of spend. At circa GBP30m, you will look to create maximum value through the development, execution and effective management of strategic category sourcing plans.
* Work closely with the Head of Procurement to agree buying strategy for the Categories in their control, to help drive attainment of shared cross-functional targets and to ensure agreed policy is implemented.
* Deliver category sales and profit growth against agreed targets.
* Accountable for working capital relating to categories, including inventory investment, stock on water and creditor days.
* Develop and deliver category specific business plans
* Deliver new product development and innovation as tasked within category business plan.
THE PERSON
The Category Manager role is ideally suited to suited to an individual who has worked in a strategically focused, category led procurement role. On top of having strong communication and negotiation skills, and a strategic procurement understanding, key experiences will include;
* 5 years+ strategic procurement experience
* Ideally industry backgrounds include Retail/ FMCG, but other backgrounds can still be considered
* Possess significant analytical problem solving ability.
* Strong Negotiation skills
* Team management experience is useful, but not essential
* degree/ CIPS preferred
