Laboratory Technician & Kit Assembly Technician

 

An exciting opportunity to join the Biovault Technical team and work for the largest human tissue bank in the UK. Biovault is based in Plymouth's International Medical and Technology Park and has been established since 2003. Biovault is AABB, ISO and JACIE accredited, and holds a HTA licence.

We currently have two positions available within the laboratory team. Position one is for a Laboratory Technician and position two is for a Kit Assembly Technician.

Day to day responsibilities for the Laboratory Technician is to receive, process, analyse, store and despatch samples of human tissue as per predefined procedures. To work and maintain a graded clean room environment. To work closely with and support our NHS partners. To enter and verify data on the sample management system(s).

Day to day responsibilities for the Kit Assembly Technician is to receive and schedule orders, manufacture and despatch collection kits to the clients. On occasion, you may support the processing and storage of human tissue by assisting with sample receipt, data entry and cryopreservation. 

 

For the Laboratory Technician, applications will be accepted from individuals with an undergraduate degree in a related subject. However, individuals with relevant laboratory experience and/or a very healthy practical approach will also be considered.

No previous background or experience is required for the Kit Assembly Technician role.

Full in house training is provided for both positions against the companies standard operating procedures. A successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, self-motivated team player, flexible and reliable.

There is scope to advance within the company and development opportunities are available when they arise.

You will work a nominal 40 hours per week but will be entitled to paid breaks. Your hours of work will initially be between the hours of 06:00 - 22:00 as operationally necessary. However, normal working hours are considered to be shifts starting between 08:00 and 10:00, with the exception of Tuesdays where the work schedule may be from 11:00. This position is Temporary with the view of moving to a Permanent position.
