Job Introduction
BBC Radio Foyle is an award winning multi-platform station with a unique place in the hearts and minds of its listeners and the community at large, producing a wide variety of daily and weekly programmes across speech and music genres. It prides itself on driving approval for the BBC in Northern Ireland and providing a strong base for BBC network production.

Content Assistants can be required to work across a variety of these genres and platforms.

Role Responsibility
As a Content Assistant, you must be a team player who has a passion for engaging and informing the BBC Radio Foyle audience, coming up with and delivering creative programme and story ideas and content across on air, online and social media platforms. You will support and help producers to set up programmes and deliver content by generating ideas, researching stories, finding suitable contributors, recording and editing interviews, publishing and maintaining online pages, social media content and undertaking various editorial support and administrative duties. You will provide support for live programmes, so you will be expected to coordinate the arrival of guests, process audience correspondence, and make on-air contributions in the form of pre-recorded vox pops or packages, or live reports. You will work across various types of programmes, and your working hours will vary so you will have a flexible approach to working

The Ideal Candidate
To be successful in this role you will have strong journalistic skills and be comfortable applying lateral thinking to storytelling and maximising content, on air and online. You will help to produce consistently creative content whilst working to tight deadlines and under pressure. You will be comfortable with operating in the digital world including online and social media and appreciate the opportunities this presents for the station, individual programmes and presenters in line with the HORs vision statement.

Package Description
PLEASE NOTE: We are looking for people to join a register of Content Assistants for Radio Foyle. The pool of successful candidates would be operational for a year from the date of appointmentand members can be called upon as and when needed. Appointment to the register will not entitle candidates to permanent contracts in the BBC, these will have to be applied for in the normal way, neither does it guarantee work.
