S&A Group is the UK's largest independent strawberry grower with farms in Hereford, Kent and Wales. The Group, which also has berry growing operations overseas and grows early UK asparagus, uses modern and innovative growing techniques to drive and support its thriving year round soft fruit import business. Our principal customers include the major multiple food retailers.
We are excited to offer the opportunity for the following full-time, permanent vacancy at our Head Office, based in Marden Hereford:
Group Finance Director
The successful candidate will have the ability to lead and inspire others, have extensive finance and systems experience and be a strong communicator with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
A member of the Board of Directors, this role is responsible for taking full accountability for the direction and management of the group's financial affairs. You will facilitate the development of the Group's strategy and drive continuous improvement in the quality and availability of performance information for the business whilst providing leadership and direction to the finance and IT functions.
Are you the ideal candidate?
You will be a qualified accountant with the technical skills and experience appropriate for this senior role, having previously worked within a significant business in a similar, senior finance role. You will be able to demonstrate your experience of managing a culture of continuous improvements and will have planned and managed within large or complex operations to ensure all activities are executed to the highest operational standards. You will possess strong management and leadership skills and be a strategic thinker with a dynamic approach to your work.
Experience within the fresh produce sector would be an advantage to the role as would be a relevant MBA qualification and Spanish, German and Chinese language skills.
