Our Client, the UK Space Agency, based on the outskirts of Oxfordshire are looking for a Senior Electrical Technician to join the team for a contract period (initially end of Jan 2018). The role is to support the installation and commissioning of 2 large vacuum vessels.
The ideal candidate will hold the 17th Edition along with an apprenticeship, HNC, or equivalent, in Engineering or related subject. The experience of building and designing Electrical Systems is a must.
Working closely with other technicians, the Senior electrical technician key deliverables will include production of formal designs for all heating, cooling, vacuum and power sub-systems, Production of sub-system verification plans, Inspection and testing of electrical enclosures and manufacture and test of harnessing, power supply chassis and vacuum control chassis boxes.
Essential:
- Apprenticeship, HNC, or equivalent, in Engineering or related subject
Desirable:
- HND or, or higher qualification in Engineering
- Electrical certification (17th Edition)
- Experience of building and handling electrical systems
- Experience of designing and documenting electrical systems
- Experience of specifying and procuring equipment
List of Duties / Work Programme / Responsibilities
Electrical
- Experienced industrial electrical engineer to assist with the delivery of complex vacuum, heating, cryogenic electrical, control and measurement systems
- Production of formal designs (wiring, 3D, BoM, Cable plans etc..) for all heating, cooling, vacuum and power sub-systems
- Production of sub-system verification plans
- Inspection of electrical enclosures (Ad-hoc)
- Maintain the facility control and acquisition system including modifications to wiring and installation of new systems
- Testing of electrical enclosures / sub-systems
- Manufacture, inspection and test of cabling and harnessing
- Manufacture and test of electrical enclosures
- Support with other electrical tasks in the group as required
Mechanical (Desirable)
- Design of racks and control panels as required
- Manufacture of panels and racks to suit new and existing designs
- Modification of existing systems
- Assembly of jigs and fixtures as required to support the operations of the group
Operations:
- Work within the departments ISO9000 system.
- Configure the relevant test facilities to meet the customer's needs.
- Day to day running of the testing (when needed) including extended hours / nights / weekends.
Contacts and Communication
- Regular contact with external customers
- Regular contact with a variety of space engineering and scientific support staff both internal and external to Client.
- Will report directly to C&I Section Lead
Any other Relevant Information
- Available to travel/work overseas for meetings, etc. if required.
