As part of my clients ongoing strategy for growth, they are looking to recruit a seasoned and talented design or engineering professional to lead their technical team. Reporting to the Operations Director, the Technical Lead will have day to day responsibility for planning, budgeting and managing all Design and Engineering activities for the company. This position offers a defined career progression opportunity to join the senior management team as Design and Engineering Manager.
The role will involve mentoring and developing the existing team to deliver New Product Development (NPI) projects to time, functionality and cost targets, as well as improving existing products via Value Engineering/Value Analysis initiatives.

To be considered for the Technical Lead position you must have or be:

• A proven ability to manage design projects from concept to launch, achieving targets of safety, functionality, aesthetics and cost
• Provide technical leadership to the organisation and technical support as/when needed to internal and external customers
• An ability to work with different materials/technologies including tubular metalwork assemblies, mechanical linkages, extrusions, injection moulded parts, vacuum formed parts, actuators, etc.
• A desire and drive to implement improved departmental processes, to establish a professional design and engineering function
• A willingness to be 'hands on' with design projects whilst overseeing the planning and progress of other projects undertaken by team members
• An ability to design for manufacture/cost, ensuring efficient introduction into production
• Maintain and develop the 3D CAD infrastructure (Autodesk Inventor)
• Create and maintain full documentation/data to ensure regulatory compliance
• Manage relationship with key suppliers and outside agencies as and when necessary to achieve project deliverables
• Dynamic, data-driven, numerate, adaptable and prepared to do what it takes to get the job done.
• Excellent communication skills, verbal, written and presentation, able to create understanding and a desire to change in the people you work with at all levels
