Human Resources Administrator

£18,000 - £21,000 depending on experience

Subject to six month probationary period

The HR Administrator will be the first point of contact for the organisation on all HR related queries and will be responsible for administering all HR related documentation. Key responsibilities include; ensuring the HR database and payroll documentation is up to date, accurate and complies with legislation; assisting in the recruitment process, setting up interviews and issuing the relevant correspondence; assisting with employee relation activities and writing HR policies; co-ordinate training; and producing required reports. The HR Administrator will play a key role in supporting the management team and HR Executive to deliver operational excellence across the organisation.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assisting the HR Executive in HR related duties as relevant
  • Providing confidential ad-hoc advice and support to employees on all HR administration related areas
  • Assist in reviewing HR policies & procedures
  • Advising on low level employee relations issues, such as; informal performance, conduct and absence management
  • Managing and maintaining all HR related documentation, including; contracts and personnel files.
  • Assisting with pay related queries, including; holiday, standard, shift, and overtime hours
  • Co-ordinating employee related programmes, including; work experience, internships and apprenticeships
  • Assisting and co-ordinating the recruitment and retention of staff (to include assistance with training as required)
  • Administering payroll related documentation including; Inland Revenue payroll returns, P11d’s and P60’s
  • Managing the cleaning team
  • Deputising for the SHE Advisor (Safety, Health & Environment) and supporting external auditing processes

The Human Resources Administrator will report to the HR Executive. As this is a company wide role, the ability to form working relationships with all internal and external customers is essential.

The position is predominantly office based. The normal hours of work are Monday to Friday between 08.00am - 16.30pm. However, as a key member of staff, the requirements of the role will require some flexibility in working time.

Your salary will be benchmarked, payable monthly in arrears. You will be entitled to 23 days paid holiday per year inclusive of bank holidays plus Death in Service Benefit. You will also be auto enrolled into the Nest Pension Scheme.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Good written and oral communication skills, such as; persuasive, articulate and informative
  • Computer literate, possessing at least an intermediate level of competence in spreadsheet, word processing and database applications
  • Good problem solving and decision making skills
  • Able to work on own and as part of a team
  • At least 2 years’ experience in an administration role
  • Experience of producing accurate documentation and correspondence
  • Experience of using and maintaining a database system
  • Experience of maintaining comprehensive records
  • Experience of prioritising own workload, time management and dealing with conflicting priorities
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to relate to others and achieve desired results
  • Able to cope with change and uncertainty and be flexible in responding to these circumstances
  • Understanding of HR function

Desirable:

  • Experience of note/ minute taking at meetings
  • Experience of HR issues
  • Experience of employment law principles

Qualifications

Essential:

  • A good standard of education equivalent to 5 GCSE’s, including Maths and English

Desirable:

  • Touch typing qualification
  • Intermediate Microsoft word and excel qualification
