Product Safety Engineer
Are you looking to apply your safety engineering knowledge to the design of cutting edge systems for the UK's existing and future submarine fleet? BAE Systems is looking for a Product Safety Engineer to join the Combat Systems team based in Weymouth, Dorset
As a Product Safety Engineer you will be carrying out a range of safety engineering activities and analyses on Combat System equipment. This work will contribute to the development of 'New' and maintenance of 'Existing' Def Stan 00-56 Product Safety Cases, to demonstrate that the safety risks associated with the design, operation and maintenance of Combat System equipment remain As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP), throughout the product lifecycle.

Your main responsibilities as a Product Safety Engineer will involve:
Developing safety justifications for Combat System equipment, to support Def Stan 00-56 safety case development
Assessing, documenting and monitoring equipment compliance with Legislation, Company and MoD regulatory requirements, policies and safety standards
Organising and contributing to Hazard Identification workshops and Safety Committee meetings
Analysing and assessing product designs and associated qualification test data, requirements acceptance evidence, non-conformances, limitations etc.
Engaging with third parties such as equipment designers, users (RN) and external suppliers to gather supporting safety case evidence
Production and maintenance of Safety Case documentation (plans, policies and reports) to support project milestones
Conducting Risk Management in accordance with Def Stan 00-56
Your skills and qualifications as a Product Safety Engineer:
Essential:
Demonstrable experience in safety engineering/ product safety, and activities contributing to the production of safety cases
Knowledge/ experience in systems engineering, including requirements, design, and integration
Desirable:
Experience in relevant engineering industry such as defence/ aerospace/ vehicles/ marine
Engineering qualification such as BEng/ MEng or equivalent
