Nuclear Engineer

Would you like to play a key role in the delivery of nuclear fuelling activities for Royal Navy submarines? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Nuclear Engineer at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

As a Principal Nuclear Engineer, you will become a team member within a small group of personnel managing nuclear fuelling activities in accordance with programme requirements, safety regulations and project timescales. You will be responsible for working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders including planning, build delivery, internal regulators and external industrial partners.

This role will provide you with a unique opportunity to work within a growing team, with regular exposure to a variety of programme stakeholders and partners at all levels.

Your main responsibilities as a Nuclear Engineer will involve:

Supporting the Nuclear Build Process Manager

Ensuring processes are in place and safety regulations are adhered to for the transportation and receiving of nuclear fuel

Supporting nuclear fuelling activities to ensure team objectives are successfully delivered within specified timescales

Engaging with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and industrial partners, to finalise interface requirements

Managing internal regulation requirements in relation to nuclear fuelling activities

Delivering facility readiness in accordance with relevant company processes

Building effective relationships across all interfaces

Your skills and qualifications as a Nuclear Engineer:

Essential:

Previous nuclear experience or similar high risk engineering processes

Strong IT skills with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products

Desirable:

Completion of a Nuclear Warship Support Course/ Nuclear Site Safety Justification Course / Nuclear Quality Assurance Course

Knowledge and experience of nuclear reactor/ nuclear fuelling activities
