Logistics Team Leader

Job Purpose:

  • Hands on management of a multi-skilled team to deliver operational excellence throughout Bigham’s logistics function

Key accountabilities

  1. EH&S - management, the safety of the team and working environment
  2. Food Safety and Quality – To deliver the Bigham’s standard
  3. Culture – Embed, maintain and develop the Bigham’s culture
  4. Labour Cost / Efficiency delivery
  5. Maintain materials variance consistently
  6. Service level – Ensure customer orders are always achieved to a high standard and completed on time
  7. People Development - Train the team in roles and responsibilities regarding goals and targets in line with operations strategy

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the logistics team through role model behaviour, ensuring targets are clear, results achieved, displayed and communicated
  • Ensure effective communication with our suppliers, customers and between departments within Bigham’s to maintain the flow of the production kitchen.
  • Drive a culture of change, by engaging, coaching and developing the Logistics team
  • Use of IT systems to manage stock levels of all in-bound and out-bound deliveries
  • Investigate discrepancies with stock levels and customer/supplier POD’s in the required timeframe
  • Use route cause analysis and problem solving to understand variances and implement actions that will deliver improvements
  • Ensure clear ways of working and training standards are in place for all activities, and that these are supported by a training plan to engage and empower the team
  • Allocate and maintain the team rota, TMS system and holiday bookings
  • Maintain high GMP and Quality standards across the area at all times
  • Give regular feedback to the team on personal and team performance through team briefs, progress reviews and 1-1’s
  • Ensure all paperwork associated with Logistics, suppliers and customers is completed, stored correctly and up to date at all times
  • Multi-skilled and able to work in all areas
