Job Title:Principal Piping Mechanical Engineer
Location:Bristol
Duration:Permanent staff or contract
Assystem are currently recruiting for a number of Mechanical Piping Engineers with specific experience in the concept and detailed design of piping systems.
Role description:
The Principal Mechanical Piping Engineer will be responsible for producing concept deign proposals for marine based projects centred around facilities associated with dry docking of vessels. This will comprise piping systems design from concept/FEED design stage through detailed design to Installation and commissioning.
Typical preferred experience will include some/all of the experience below:
Ideal experience:-
*P&ID Development
*Pipe Specifications
*Valve / Actuator Specifications
*Piping Arrangements (2D / 3D)
*Plant General Arrangements (2D / 3D)
*Pump Selection and NPSHa Calculation
*Pipe Loss Calculation
*Development of Bills of Materials / Equipment Lists
Control & Instrumentation Experience:
*Instrumentation Specification
*Development of Control Philosophies.
*Selection of Instrumentation / Actuation.
Software experience:
AutoCAD
Excel
FluidFlow
Mathcad
The suitable candidate will have led teams of engineers in delivery of this sort of design with experience of checking and approving the output of Engineers and Draughtsmen. Ideally with experience of requirements definition and management with some background in working on site and conducting surveys.
It is highly desirable to have experience of producing piping solutions in a marine environment including galvanic corrosion and materials selection.
Qualifications and Affiliations:
MEng Mechanical Engineering (preferable / not mandatory) or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline and the suitable candidate will ideally be a Chartered Engineer or in the process of becoming chartered.
Security clearance:
Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance
