Research Officer - Vacancy

The Research Officer will have an important role in helping to deliver the core work carried out by Cogent in support of the Science and Nuclear Industries; in particular the Nuclear Skills Strategy Group (NSSG), the Science Industry Partnership (SIP), and the Petroleum Downstream Advisory Council (DAC). They will support the Research Manager in carrying out primary and secondary research, collating and managing large data sets, overseeing external consultations and surveys, drafting papers and reports, and responding to ad hoc data requests.

This is a varied and interesting role which will enable the Research Officer to engage in a wide range of research, writing and project-based activities. For example, previous research tasks have used pivot table data and mapping software to produce quantitative output; generated literature reviews; used one-to-one employer interviews, and analysed survey responses.  Writing tasks have included developing strategy papers and reports on skills gaps and solutions. The Research Officer will have the opportunity to attend external meetings and conferences, and will work closely with employers, government and stakeholders including those who are members of the NSSG, the SIP and the DAC.

The candidate will require a degree, preferably in a STEM discipline. Experience of quantitative and qualitative research and analysis, drafting papers and reports, and expertise with a range of research techniques and resources, is essential.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in high-profile skills work for the Science and Nuclear Industries.
