Vehicle Technician and MOT tester

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a fully qualified Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester to join a large independent garage & MOT centre which specialises in Mercedes, BMW, Mini, Land Rover Group, Audi and VW Group, alongside other makes and models. Based in St Albans, Hertfordshire, the successful Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester, will join the company’s highly skilled team to earn a salary of £25,000 to £32,000 depending on experience.

With over 30 years of experience, the garage offers a full range of repair services covering most makes and models, although specialising in Mercedes, BMW, Mini, Land Rover Group, Audi and VW Groups. Working in the garage’s excellent working conditions, the successful Motor Vehicle Technician’s main duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

• Carrying out vehicle diagnosis, repairing and servicing vehicles to high standards
• Ensuring effective use of technical knowledge and skills enabling efficient, economic and safe servicing and repair of customer vehicles
• Removing, fitting and replacing components on vehicles
• Building effective working relationships with colleagues built on communication, sharing expertise and trust
• Carrying out test drives on vehicles to diagnose existing faults
• Reporting verbally and written all faults and findings
• Working to deadlines and targets

To be considered for the Vehicle Technician / MOT Tester position, you must have had demonstrable in a similar role previously and possess the following key skills and experience: 

• Minimum qualifications of level 3 NVQ
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong fault finding and problem solving skills
• Driven to learn and develop
• Demonstrable knowledge and ability to relay this to customers
• Strong customer focus
• Excellent organisational skills
• Enthusiastic and self-motivated
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure
• Experience with Mercedes, BMW, Land Rover Group, Audi and VW Group vehicles and MOT class 4 Tester would be an advantage
