Job Title: Head of Credit Risk
Department: Risk and Governance
Location: Milton Keynes
Salary: Up to £85,000 + benefits (Dependent on Experience)

This position reports to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO). The Head of Credit Risk is responsible for the management and monitoring of credit risk. A key purpose will be to support the CRO in the implementation of departmental strategic objectives, and delivering the next generation lending strategy whilst balancing the implementation of efficiency objectives within the Risk Management function.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

* Act as an internal consultant to the company, always ensuring that the strategic direction of the Company is considered in all credit risk activities and delivered via co-ordination of external providers, to ensure optimal credit risk methodology is achieved.
* Offer thought leadership on the wider credit market end enable the company to learn from other markets to ensure best in class application processes.
* Responsible for developing the organisation's digital credit journey ensuring that the application process is digitally enabled and market leading.
* Build understanding in the wider business as to the effectiveness of the company's credit scoring methodologies providing support and assistance to other departments to ensure their actions are complementary to the credit philosophy of the company.
* Maintain a proactive involvement in the development of credit proposal rating and scoring systems, working closely with a range of stakeholders to achieve mutually acceptable outcomes within the credit risk framework, whilst developing appropriate mechanisms for monitoring performance and reporting.
* Offer thought leadership to emergent credit modelling methodologies and practices.
* Enable the company to consume big data and its links to the application process.
* Engage with and manage external suppliers specialising in the field of credit scoring and associated analytics.
* Ensure a holistic view of credit and underwriting policy is developed and maintained
* Lead a small team acting as the conduit for analysis and reporting, ensuring that all reporting is completed accurately and on a timely basis for both the retail and bank Portfolios.
* Work cross-functionally to review and analyse the impacts of operational processing on the portfolio performance, making recommendations for change to improve systems and processes in line with the strategic intent of the Company aligned to portfolio performance.
* Provide support to the CRO in the implementation of both the function / Company strategy and the management of credit risk practices within the Company.
* Play a key role in the Risk Management team through involvement in projects and initiatives as required by the Chief Risk Officer, in particular identification of new and/or developing credit risks

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

* Solid automotive finance and or banking industry experience
* Educated to degree level or hold a relevant appropriate professional qualification
* Ability to understand the relevance of appropriate data for use in high-level hypothesis testing
* A thought leader, competent in interpreting and the application of outcomes associated with reviews of models, risk policies, results of research
* Ability to communicate at all levels and to provide and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.
* Experience of credit management / underwriting
* Ability to manage a team of Risk Managers
* Ability to cope and deliver under pressure and meet strict deadlines
* Proven track record of working in a high-performing team and the ability to work and liaise effectively across the business as a whole.
