The Information Officer will support our work on knowledge management, business development, and current awareness of education policy and research developments, as well as working on desk research projects for clients. Until December 2017, at least, external project work will focus on compiling information on the education systems and policies of England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Additional project work is likely to include literature searching for review projects; fact checking test items for our assessment team; and undertaking desk research for policy/practice mapping studies.

The successful Information Officer will have:

- Strong desk research/information skills

- The ability to organise information logically, referencing sources used and to provide clearly reasoned judgements

- Excellent writing skills, particularly the ability to write concisely and to adapt content for an international audience

- The ability to manage time effectively, prioritise own work and meet tight deadlines

- Creativity and the ability to see the bigger picture

- The ability to learn quickly and commitment to continual improvement

- Good organisational and communication skills, and attention to detail

- The ability to work collaboratively and well in a team

- Knowledge and use of the principles of project management

- MS Office skills, particularly MS Word and basic MS Excel and database skills.

Knowledge and skills in library, information, or education-related fields and/or an interest in education, particularly policy and research would be an advantage.

NFER is a registered charity and an equal opportunity employer welcoming applications from all sections of the community. Our offices are located in lovely grounds a mile from the town centre; communications by road and rail are excellent.

Applicants for this post should note that it is exempt from the ‘Rehabilitation of Offenders Act’; further details of NFER’s Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checking procedure are in the attached Further Particulars for this post.
