Monarch Education are currently working with a SEN School in Yeovil, Somerset that are currently looking for a SEN specialist Learning Support Assistant / LSA to work with students with Moderate Learning Difficulties / MLD. The role is initially a short term contract with a Long-Term opportunity available for the right applicant.
Whilst at the school you will be working under the guidance of the classroom teacher and SENCO helping children with their Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
The right candidate for this role will have a caring, patient and positive attitude. Children with MLD experience great difficulty following the curriculum; with the help of the classroom teacher you will carefully plan and differentiate work and break it down into small manageable tasks.
You will build on the child's knowledge through clear instructions, showing how things are done and checking understanding at each stage.
To be successful in this role you will need to be/have:
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent with at least six months experience in UK Schools.
* A child centred approach
* Conscientious at all times
* Experience with MLD or SEND
* Consistent approach to challenging behaviour
