An experienced Mechanical Design Engineer who is proficient with Solidworks and understands injection moulding processes is needed by a manufacturing company in Oxfordshire
You will be responsible for designing products to meet specifications produced by the R&D team and ensure detailed designs are produced that meet applicable standards and ensure any design changes are managed effectively. You will act as the mechanical lead on nominated projects and work with the development engineers to ensure that customer expectations are met. You will ensure that project timescales are met and highlight any deviations or design concerns to the Project Management Team. You will also work closely with suppliers and certification authorities to ensure that all sub-contracted work meets appropriate standards. You will also visit customers when needed to ascertain design requirements or manage change projects.
The successful candidate will need to be experienced at using Solidworks to produce 3D CAD designs and detailed drawings. Experience of designing injection moulded components is essential. You will ideally have experience of sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining and Die Casting processes. Experience of designing ATEX compliant products would also be a distinct advantage. You will need excellent organisation skills and be able to work on multiple projects and deliver completed designs on time and to specification.
