An industry-leader in Freight, Road & Rail services in the Bristol area require a Transport Controller. The purpose of the role is to assist in organising container movements in line with company procedures through the terminal and on the rail fleet to business specifications and safety standards.
As a Transport Controller your duties will include:
Working as part of a small team and reporting to the Senior Transport Controller, you will work closely with customers, drivers and sub-contractors on a daily basis, dealing with delivery schedules, service levels and key performance indicators.
This will also involve the planning of vehicles for both local and distance deliveries and collections, this will entail liaising with drivers to ensure service levels are maintained and in a cost effective manner.
Other duties will include the compilation of the necessary records and reports required for the smooth running of the operation, identifying new business opportunities and maximising fleet utilisation whilst still maintaining high service levels.
This post will also require on call duties as necessary.
Previous Experience of Container Vehicle planning would be advantageous as would knowledge of all major UK port operations and port IT systems however full training would be given.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate strong communication skills, and above all, a clear understanding of the importance of meeting/exceeding customer expectations.
You will receive a pay rate of GBP10 - GBP12 per hour dependent on experience plus standard company benefits.
For the right candidate this will be a temporary to permanent position.
