Job Role:

Our Client is the UK's leading waste-to-energy biodiesel producer and has always been privately owned. Their plant, near Motherwell in Scotland, started production in 2005 and uses a mixture of animal tallow and used cooking oil rather than virgin oils.

Our Client currently produces c.55k tonnes of waste-based biodiesel and earns c.80m Renewable Transport Fuel Certificates (RTFCs). The business is currently in a period of significant growth and this year will commission a new biodiesel plant in Stanlow with a capacity of 70,000 tonnes per annum. This could generate of up to a further 160m RTFCs.

Typically our Client currently receipts approx 2,500 deliveries of feedstock per annum, and creates approx 2,000 deliveries of Biodiesel from the plant. These volumes are quite likely to treble post commissioning of Stanlow.

They are currently looking to recruit for a Sustainability Administrator to ensure that the volume of RTFCs and income are secured through the proper administration and development of a compliant sustainability management and reporting system.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Develop and continuously maintain management system for all sustainability records (incl ISCC)
  • Ensure that all key staff within the business fully understand their sustainability responsibilities and obligations
  • Prepare and maintain sustainability mass balance reconciling to monthly plant mass balance
  • Collate, reconcile and verify monthly data for incoming raw materials and outgoing biodiesel
  • Prepare and issue outgoing POS documentation to customers
  • Receipt and check incoming POS documentation from suppliers
  • Ensure all internal transfers of feedstocks are supported with correct documentation
  • Carry out regular internal audits of inward feedstock paperwork to ensure it is complete and compliant for sustainability verification and reporting purposes
  • Maintain register of customer and feedstock supplier's ISCC certificates
  • Collect prime business documents to support actual GHG savings
  • Prepare and submit all required documentation evidence to DfT ROS
  • Create Carbon and Sustainability Administrative Consignments on DfT ROS
  • Attend and support all sustainability audits that are undertaken on the business
  • Point of contact for suppliers and customers for general day to day ISCC related enquiries
  • Generate Italian Double Counting (or equivalent) documents when required
  • Issue GHG savings certificates for customers as required
  • Assist with applications and approvals for new sustainability schemes
  • To assist in the continuous development of the company's Sustainability Management Plan.
  • To liaise with group Sustainability activities across sites.
  • To support the Sustainability Manager to meet Sustainability Management programmes and Sustainability Strategy.

General Sustainability Skills & Knowledge

Having an understanding/ working knowledge of some or all of the following would be beneficial:

  • Department for Transport's Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation
  • Renewable Energy Directive (RED)
  • Voluntary sustainability schemes (e.g. ISCC)
  • External carbon and sustainability auditing and verification requirements (ISCC, RTFO, Italian double counting, Dutch double counting)
  • Calculating GHG carbon savings (DfT Carbon Calculator would be the main methodology)
  • Managing sustainability data, both physically and electronically in order to demonstrate evidence retrieval

Qualifications / Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Report writing and analysis skills.
  • Be commensurate with Microsoft Office suite and PC Literate.

Desirable

  • Recognised Environmental Management Certificate i.e. IEMA
  • Experience working in a manufacturing/ production environment.
  • Experience dealing with regulatory authorities and external bodies.
