Stockperson (Livestock - Bull Stud)

Superb opportunity for an experienced livestock handler with a strong work ethic to join international business Cogent as a Stockperson. Within this busy role you will be assisting with the daily care of the pedigree breeding bulls at the stud in Cheshire.

Founded in 1995, the company has since developed a global presence with a workforce in excess of 170 professional team members, and a head office located in Tattenhall near Chester.

Reporting to the Head Stockman, as a Stockperson you’ll be responsible for all aspects of bull welfare including feeding, bedding, handling and moving bulls as required. You’ll be a hardworking team member who is able to take and follow instructions, ensuring personal and team safety while being alert to all situations that may occur.

Your responsibilities and duties will include although not be limited to;

  • Handling and moving livestock
  • Assisting with daily care i.e. cleaning, feeding, watering and all factors relating to maintenance and good health to ensure a clean and healthy environment
  • Consciously working to ensure company best practice and regulatory compliance
  • Ensuring that all health and safety responsibilities are fulfilled and that colleagues, visitors and contractors safety and welfare is maintained at all times
  • Applying and improving expertise by keeping up to date with specialist knowledge

To be considered for this Stockperson role you MUST have the following experience, skills, knowledge and attributes;

  • Full UK driving licence. Plus Bobcat/Tractor experience would be preferable but full training will be provided.
  • Livestock free and bio-security conscious
  • Ability to work independently, and responsibly manage time
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude towards approaching and tackling challenges
  • Proactive approach and flexible with working hours and tasks

In return;

Salary:                         Circa £24,000, level dependent on experience.

Attractive benefits:        Housing allowance (no accommodation provided), 23 days annual leave plus bank holidays, pension and life assurance

Hours of work:              Full time 5 days per week supporting a 7 day rota.
