An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Duty Manager to join our team based in Nottingham. You will be on a full time permanent basis and will be offered a competitive salary of £22,083 per annum.

The University of Nottingham Students’ Union exists to enable every student at the University of Nottingham to fulfil their potential and to have the most incredible experience at University.

Formally, we’re a registered charity that acts as the recognised representative body of all students at the University.  Overseen by our Trustees, we have Student Officers who are elected each year who are the voice of our students and bring fresh ideas each year to drive us to deliver our strategic goals.

The Students' Union employs over two hundred staff, around half of our staff are students who balance work with their studies and social lives.  Other staff work full-time, some are part-time and some are required only during term-time and thus work for just part of the year.

The role of our Duty Manager

Mooch Bar is a bespoke bar/catering operation that is focused on student welfare and employability, which exceeds stakeholder expectations.  We are looking for a motivated individual to join our bar management team to support the Bar Manager in delivering a bar/catering environment that is professional, customer focused and a welcoming social space for its customers, whilst providing exceptional work experience and enjoyable employment for student staff.

As the highest employer of students on campus the annual replacement of staff due to graduating is around 25. We are looking for a person who has the ability to build and knit a new team together on an annual basis through a strategic recruitment and training process.

This is a rewarding role that requires a person that has a passion for the bar/catering trade, can offer a high level of commitment and roll up their sleeves when the going gets tough.

As our Duty Manager you will already have management experience in a commercial setting, ideally food and beverage operations and be a Personal License Holder or be able to hold a personal license. You must be able to demonstrate excellent leadership and motivation skills and have a passion to reach exceptional customer service and needs whilst building the employability of the student staff.  You should also have experience of Cellar Management and working with Real Ales.

Benefits of becoming our Duty Manager

When you come to work @UoNSU you bring your skills, experience, talent, commitment and a desire to do a great job and we want you to be the very best you can be.  In return we want to be an employer where every member of the staff team feels valued, trusted, inspired, and able to grow and to have fun.
