MAIN JOB ROLE

To undertake a variety of processes including the detailed assembly of components and associated assemblies involving metals, composites and plastics using traditional manual craft skills, to the required quality standards and the production schedule .

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Undertake tasks as defined in the attached Appendix under the direction of the Cell Leader
  • Understand and use the process specifications and apply the appropriate controls during manufacture including date sensitive compounds, calibrated items, batch controls, build procedures and material specifications.
  • To accurately interpret engineering drawings and work instructions/build plans so that Part Numbers, Drawing Issues, relevant ADR’s, process specification and finishes can be accurately identified and applied.
  • To manage/assist in the successful implementation of ongoing Lean Initiatives including 5S activities and Continuous Improvement programmes

You will need to be conversant with and employ appropriate techniques as specified on the job cards relevant to specific components such that work is undertaken according to requirements so that :

  • Processes are carried out in accordance with laid down SOP’s within the Department
  • The job kit has been checked to make sure it contains all the necessary components
  • Required quality standards are achieved
  • All relevant Health and Safety regulations are adhered to at all times including Risk Assessments, COSHH Assessments, SSW’s arising from RA’s/COSHH and Material Safety Data Sheets
  • Productivity is maintained so that the effectiveness and efficiency of the department is at the highest level.

THE MAIN AREAS YOU WILL COVER ARE;

Sheet Metal Assy - Fabricate and assemble seat pan chassis and parachute container assemblies. Conduct bench fitting and build of detailed assemblies

Sheet Metal Detail - Conduct heat treatment, Conduct Injection Moulding, Drogue Line Assembly and Vertical Milling of expanded foam inserts for heat pad assemblies

Composites - Produce seat backrest and sitting platform assemblies in aluminium glass fibre and carbon fibre.

Royalite - Utilise Royalite plastic sheet and vacuum forming techniques to produce head pad assemblies.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

  • Broad experience of reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Basic background in H&S policies and procedures.
  • Experience in one or more of the following; riveting processes, operating vertical milling machines, gluing/bonding processes, presses or injection molding.
  • Basic Computing skills
  • Manual dexterity
  • Familiar with engineering hand tools
