Gerrard McCall are currently recruiting on behalf of a dynamic, award-winning destination specialist Tour Operator who are currently seeking a Southeast Asia Senior Product Executive.

Specialising in small group tours and tailored packages, the company offers exciting and creative tours in Asia, catering to a variety of travellers and agents. The company prides itself on their teams, who have all lived or travelled extensively in their specialist regions. This enables them to offer the very best in tailor-made service.

The successful candidate will work with the Southeast Asia brands, creating, developing and managing all aspects of the Southeast Asia product.

Having the very best product is at the heart of the success of the company, and you will need to be passionate about providing clients with an experience that exceeds expectations. You will be fundamental in ensuring that everything - from hotels, experiences and guides to website itineraries - is of the highest quality and is profitable for the company.

Focussing on the destinations of Burma, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos, you will need to have an in depth knowledge and first hand personal travel experience in this area, as well as having previous experience working in sales or product in the UK travel industry.

You will need to be an enthusiastic communicator and motivator of others, as well as a keen travel writer. If you are a creative person who enjoys research and has a good eye for detail, please get in touch!

Principal duties
• Source & research new products that are both innovative and commercially-viable
• Ensure accuracy of product details & itineraries in the booking system
• Create client-facing copy and source images that honestly represent the product
• Monitor client feedback, analyse results and action as necessary
• Analyse competition in UK offering travel to Southeast Asia
• Maintain strong relationships with ground handlers in Southeast Asia and monitor costs
• Conduct regular tenders with significant ground handlers
• Communicate new product & updates to the sales team including internal e-shots and training sessions
• Coordinate planning, content selection, and production of annual brochure
• Assist PR department with planning of press trips
• Contribute marketing ideas and content for e-shots and social media
• Ensure product content on the websites is accurate and appealing
• Package special offers for website and marketing use

Essential requirements
• Previous experience working in a sales or product role in the travel industry & knowledge of the UK travel market
• Significant personal experience of travel within Burma, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos
• Experience in a commercial environment advantageous: carrying out tenders, negotiating direct contracts, analysing competitor product and pricing, calculating mark ups, setting pricing, brochure production.

Skills & competencies

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint
• Ability to work independently on projects and display high levels of initiative and motivation
• An understanding as to what makes exciting, commercially-viable product
• Ability to identify improvements needed and proactively implement change
• Attention to detail - a desire to get things right
• Confident at analysing figures and understanding importance of profits/performance
• Successful negotiator
• Visits to Southeast Asia for research, quality control and liaison with suppliers will take place as and when required. Full training will be provided.
