Our client currently requires a Systems Administrator to provide technical support and troubleshooting to resolve problems or address issues involving networking, telecommunications, PC hardware, software applications, servers and general system concerns throughout the organization.

This is a very hands on role working in a small team where you’ll be the first, and often only, point of contact. The successful candidate will be required to act as full system administrator from very early on.

The role would suit a charismatic, friendly person that can build a good working relationship with staff at all levels. The individual would need to be highly independent and keen to improve any inefficiencies, actively looking for ways to improve the network, systems and user experience within the company.

Systems Administrator Responsibilities
• Provide 1st and 2nd line support and administration of the company’s ERP system (IBM iSeries, AS400 Aurora 2.4)
• Analyse and quickly resolve all desktop and network related problems
• Maintain and troubleshoot networked printers, faxes, phones, and IP telephone systems
• Setup, maintain and upgrade user workstations/laptops and/or peripheral equipment
• Monitor and control the performance and status of all network resources and devices
• Assist in special projects assigned by the IT Manager
• Log all issues on the company helpdesk software
• Essential skills/Experience:
• IBM iSeries administration, specifically System21 by Infor.
• Desktop and Network support experience, remotely and in person.
• Microsoft Active Directory administration and Group Policy Management
• VMWARE/Hyper-V experience

The ideal candidate would have knowledge/experience of the following:
• Remote/Desktop Support to end users
• PC/Server/Network Infrastructure Support
• Email server administration, Lotus Domino or Microsoft Exchange
• Windows Server 2008/2012 – installing/configuring/support
• IBM iSeries AS/400 v5.3 and Aurora 2.4 Experience
• SQL Server experience
• Group Policy/AD/DNS/DHCP configurations
• Windows 7/8/10 + Office 2007 to Office365
• Backup technologies and AV Software
• Understanding IP Routing, VLAN’s, QoS
• SSL & PPTP VPN’s
• Large scale projects, Telephone system replacements, Email migration, Server virtualization.
• BI software use and development. E.g. Cognos, Qlikview, Microsoft SQL.

Ideal Requirements
• ABB or higher at A Level (or equivalent) including either Maths, Physics or IT
• A computer related degree
• A passion for computing and new technologies & competent knowledge of general computing
• Be a natural problem solver
• Excellent communication skills – verbal and written, with the ability to liaise internally and externally with contractors at all levels
• The ability to work under pressure, think broadly and have an aptitude to learn quickly
