My client is a well known European leader in the manufacture of specialist materials for the power and scientific industries. They pride themselves on research and development allowing them to bring new products to the market and remain as a fore runner and innovator in their market. They are working with 360 Resourcing Solutions to recruit an experienced Process Technologist to join them at their offices in Manchester

The role of the Process Technologist is to work within the Technical Department, within the Process and Product Development team focused on the manufacturing process of a range of tungsten components, whilst also providing some support to the teams working on a range of silicon carbide varistors.

Duties within the role will include:

Production Support

  • Understand the raw material specifications and their importance in achieving final product quality.
  •  Monitor production and data test results and report on any adverse trends.
  • Specify production process parameters, recommending and implementing adjustments where appropriate.
  • Conduct suitable trials to meet process improvement targets.
  • Conduct any evaluations and trials on raw materials.
  • Write work up in Technical Reports with clear recommendations.
  • Troubleshoot issues in production using structured problem solving techniques.
  •  Liaise with analytical laboratories and assess results.

Technical Investigations

  • Undertake process improvement projects and conduct technical investigations to improve knowledge and understanding of the manufacturing process.
  • Work in the laboratory preparing and analysing metallurgical samples and undertaking tensile tests. 

Innovation

  • Support the Company Innovation process with any new product development projects.


Experience/skills needed

  • Material Scientist, Material Engineer or Metallurgist graduate with 2 years minimum experience in a related industry with multi-stage processes
  • Achieved or working towards membership of a relevant professional body and chartered status.(desirable but not essential)
  • Experience working with ceramic processes (desirable not essential if meets majority of other skills needed)
  • Confident working with spreadsheets and used to handling, manipulating and analyzing numerical data.
  • Able to explain technical issues to non-technical staff.
  • Interest in process improvement through the analysis of existing data.
  • Numerate, confident verbal and written communicator on technical issues
  • Agility and stamina to spend periods of time on a manufacturing line.
  • Able to travel throughout Europe when needed to other laboratories/test facilities with no restrictions when needed (EU Passport)


In return my client offers a competitive salary of Circa £30,000 - £45,000 dependent on relevant experience and qualifications, plus a highly competitive benefits package incorporating 25 days holiday (with option to buy a further 2 days), plus all bank holidays, Company bonus scheme, company sick pay, contributory pension (5.5% after qualifying period), life insurance, child care vouchers, cycle to work scheme and Occupation Health Medical cover.
