An opportunity has arisen for a Stock Controller to be based at our client's site in Pontefract.

Working hours are as follows:
Wednesday and Thursday 08:00 to 17:30, Friday 08:00 to 17:00, Saturday and Sunday 06:00 to 12:00. This is a total of 37.5 hours per week.

Purpose of the Role:

The job holder will carry out inventory control measures to ensure accurate physical and systemic records of stock holding.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate stock levels and material inventory, working to an accuracy of 95%
  • Liaise with all departments on inventory requests
  • Carry out and control perpetual inventory stock counting and accuracy checks
  • Complete cyclic counts - daily, weekly monthly and quarterly
  • Investigate discrepancies providing in depth factual findings supported by factual data/reports
  • Review and report on obsolete/redundant materials
  • Involvement and attendance in all quarterly stock counts
  • Maintain accurate stock records both historically and ongoing
  • Check and adjust physical count with systemic counts, highlighting large discrepancies to immediate manager for resolution
  • Ensure integrity and accuracy of the stock management system
  • Provide accurate monthly reports showing data and trends
  • Liaise with all departments to offer support and ideas on stock accuracy and how this can be achieved
  • Carry out ad-hoc projects and reasonable requests to develop and improve stock accuracy when required providing support to all departments upon request.
  • Willing to develop and be trained in all aspects of the role, particularly H&S and Manual Handling policies and procedures
  • Operate areas using the 6S principals
  • Adhere to all business policies and procedures
  • Understands and complies with the requirements of the Environmental Management System (EMS) and the Environmental Permit as part of their day to day activities.
  • To carry out any other tasks commensurate with this post

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Previous stock control experience is required
  • Distribution / Warehouse qualification (Desirable)
  • Strong analytical and data understanding
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Flexible and reliable
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Customer focused, confident and innovative
  • Ability to motivate self to achieve deadlines
  • Professional and confident aptitude at all levels
  • Experience of working in a fast paced environment, preferably gained within a manufacturing environment
  • Must be computer literate in all office programmes, stock control programmes would be an advantage
